What Is Jenga Code?
TL;DR: Jenga Code is the inevitable result of prompt-and-pray vibe coding. It happens when an AI agent builds features rapidly without a global architectural blueprint, creating a fragile, hyper-tangled codebase.
You know you have Jenga Code when fixing a typo in your header component somehow breaks your database connection.
This happens because AI agents prioritize getting the current prompt working over maintaining clean system design. Without strict Data Contracts or a locked Database Schema, the agent will tightly couple frontend state with backend logic just to get a feature to render quickly.
Once a codebase becomes Jenga Code, you have hit the 80% wall. The AI can no longer add new features without breaking old ones, and the codebase is too messy for a human to easily untangle. The only way to prevent Jenga Code is to use Spec-Driven Development from day one.
Zalcro generates the Architecture Design Document and phased Prompt Pack that prevent Jenga Code from forming, by giving the agent a blueprint to build from before the first prompt.
